On September 1, 2017 The Oceanaire Realty was reestablished in Southeastern NC – serving the 21 Regional MLS counties with a primary focus on New Hanover, Pender, and Onslow. In May of 2018 the Triangle MLS counties were added to its service area to include Wake, Durham, Orange, Johnston and 12 others. This unprecedented coverage area puts our team in a unique position to help our families from the Triangle to the Coast.    

 

After working for and learning from a premier real estate team in the Triangle and a top team in the state of North Carolina, Broker/Owner Doug Yopp felt a call to continue the legacy of his grandfather, Herman G. Alberti, and his successful real estate business. He originally established Oceanaire Realty in 1979.  

 

Alberti, as he was known, served Topsail Island, Surf City, and surrounding communities as a broker and REALTOR® for nearly 30 years. Born in New Hanover County to German immigrants, he served his country overseas during WWII, was later stationed at Camp Davis in Holly Ridge, and had a distinguished career with the US Post Office. Additionally, he served three two-year terms as mayor of Holly Ridge. He was Doug’s inspiration for becoming a real estate professional, and also heavily influenced his personality and strong desire to help others. His passion for serving the area and people in so many capacities is at the heart of what The Oceanaire Realty is all about and what it strives to do every day. Our focus is always on our clients.

After working in corporate communications for 5 years after college, I made the bold decision to pursue a career in real estate by obtaining my license in 2004, and this move has brought me immense fulfillment ever since. Apart from a brief hiatus staying home with my children, I have predominantly dedicated myself to real estate for the past two decades. My journey began as the Custom Home Program Manager for the Governors Club in Chapel Hill NC, where I spearheaded the promotion and marketing efforts for a team comprising 25 talented custom builders and architects. During this period, our team played a pivotal role in raising over $100,000 for Habitat for Humanity. Subsequently, after a decade in this role, I transitioned to working with a prominent local real estate team, where I cultivated a deep appreciation for residential real estate. Serving as the company’s Closing Manager, I actively contributed to the successful closure of more than 800 deals during my tenure with the firm. While my professional path has always been intertwined with real estate, a personal calling led me to a fulfilling role as a teacher assistant for students with extended content educational needs. This experience deeply enriched my life and opened my eyes to the incredible impact of providing support to often overlooked and underappreciated children. After this enlightening chapter, I felt a longing to return to the real estate realm, which ultimately led me to join The Oceanaire Realty. It has been an absolute pleasure to be involved in closing over 1400 deals with The Oceanaire. Outside of my professional endeavors, I wholeheartedly devote myself to my two children, Peyton and Tyler, along with my loyal canine Mace and my wonderful husband Matt, with whom I have shared eight hundred blissful years of marriage. I derive immense joy from spending quality time with friends, whether it's at the beach, on the lake, or gathered in our kitchen. Additionally, you can often find me lending my voice on my church worship team and partaking in garage workout sessions with the ladies from the neighborhood. My ultimate aspiration as a Realtor is to embody a compassionate and attentive approach, providing unparalleled support throughout every transaction. It is genuinely my privilege to facilitate the process of helping individuals and families find homes that perfectly align with their unique needs, hopes, and aspirations. Following 13 years in higher education fundraising and development, I made the leap into real estate. After three years as a top producer at another firm, I decided to open my own shop. My grandfather owned a one man firm - Oceanaire Realty - in Eastern North Carolina, and I brought the name back when I started. Currently we serve central and eastern NC. I attended UNCW and NC State University, finishing my bachelor's degree in 2000 and my master's in 2003. Since opening my focus has been connecting with dynamic and motivated individuals who strive to build relationships and provide value to help others reach their goals. We work as a team, in the most sincere form of the word, to support and lift each other up. My job is to provide the resources, support, and environment for that teamwork to take place. Born in Goldsboro, NC to an Air Force family, Mark's early years were marked by travel and adventure, as he moved between Air Force bases throughout the South. After high school, he embarked on a European adventure that would span over two decades, living primarily in England, Austria, and Hungary. During this time, he achieved a degree in dentistry, got married, and became the proud father of three wonderful daughters.
